The Roger Clancy Humanitarian Award
 Roger Clancy was an NCCC Member from the Tiretown Corvette Club out of Akron, Ohio.
In 1975 Roger formulated a plan for NCCC to be involved with charity work within our communities by sponsoring a Corvette giveaway.
The first raffle car was given away at the 1977 NCCC
annual convention that was being held in Dallas, Texas. The proceeds were donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This was the beginning of the first NCCC Charity Committee consisting of Roger, Candy Altenberg, Gary Daugherty and Gary Bedra.
In 1978 the committee and the Board of Governors chose Spina Bifida as our National Charity. In September of 1978 Roger passed away.
The Roger Clancy Humanitarian Award
was established by the Spina Bifida Association of America (SBAA) in 1979 to honor the tireless charity work Roger Clancy
accomplished during his shortened life. At the November 10, 1979 Governors Meeting SBAA presented the first award to Alan Tardy who jogged across America from San Francisco to North Hampton, MA
to raise awareness of Spina Bifida as well as raise money for research. SBAA also presented Roger's mother with a memorial plaque.
Alan was sponsored by NCCC through the efforts of Roger. Alan is an Honorary Member of NCCC.
 The Roger Clancy Humanitarian Award has since become an NCCC award presented by the Charity Committee each year at the NCCC Awards Banquet at the NCCC Annual Convention
to an NCCC member or club that has gone the extra miles in their work with the Committee.
